Newton’s House Front Yard
Harmony in Design: A Ficus-Centered Landscape Transformation
The defining feature of this front yard is a majestic Ficus tree with exposed surface roots, serving as the focal point of the space. We designed a radial layout centered on the tree to accentuate its beauty and create a cohesive flow. To address the challenge posed by the tree’s surface roots, we proposed a raised wooden deck, allowing us to protect the roots while maximizing the usable area for the homeowners. The plant selection was tailored to harmonize with the overall concept, respecting design hierarchy and the client’s preferences.
Design Features: Radial concept; Wooden deck
Ecological Features: Drought-tolerant; Sun, Semi-sun/semi-shade and shade-lover plants
Location: Redondo Beach, California
Area: 650 sq. ft.
